1. The RESPONSIBLE PERSON shall be deemed to be responsible in all respects for the Float/Group referred to under Title of Entry.
2. All Float/Group entries are subject to approval by Cape Town Pride.
3. A space will be reserved for each Float/Group on 3 March 2012 at the starting point.
4. Each Float/Group will be at the designated start point of the parade at 10:00, on Saturday 3 March 2012, in order to be correctly integrated into the parade line-up.
5. Each Float must be complete and the driver present with a valid driver’s license at 10:00 on 3 March 2012. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification from the parade without a refund.
6. Any Float used in the parade must be licensed, insured and road worthy.
7. The RESPONSIBLE PERSON agrees to abide by all instructions of Pride officials regarding the parade.
8. All rights reserved: Cape Town Pride reserves the right to remove any individual, group or parade entrant from the staging, parade or dispersal area, who is, in its sole opinion and discretion, a hindrance to the safety or progress of the parade or who places any participants or spectators in physical danger; for motor vehicle safety violations, unsafe or illegal conduct such as drugs, alcohol or participation inconsistent with the aims, goals and purposes of the Cape Town Pride Parade. This includes the right to remove persons from any float or vehicular unit which it determines to be overcrowded to such an extent that the unit may break down or cause injury to participants.
9. Vehicle breakdown: Towing charges for any unit that becomes disabled and/or delays the parade will be at the applicant’s expense.
10. Political statements: Any political statements or endorsements made by participants in the CAPE TOWN PRIDE PARADE are not necessarily the opinions expressed by CAPE TOWN PRIDE nor does CAPE TOWN PRIDE in any way directly contribute financially to the signage or display of these opinions.
11. Nudity and obscenity: Offensive nudity & obscenity will not be permitted. It is against the law to appear nude in public or to be exposed in a manner determined to be lewd, lascivious, and/or obscene. No depictions that would be disrespectful or obscene is allowed either. Violators of these laws will be barred from participating in the CAPE TOWN PRIDE PARADE and could be subject to arrest.
12. Alcohol and drugs or violations of the law: It is illegal to possess or consume alcohol or drugs while participating in the Cape Town Pride Parade. Any illegal behaviours and/or violations of the law will not be tolerated in the Cape Town Pride Parade staging, route, and dispersal area. You will be responsible for any fines, fees, arrests, injury, or imprisonment that may occur if you break these or any other laws. In addition, violations will be immediate cause for dismissal from the parade. Participants, who are found to have any drugs or alcohol in their possession or found to be under the influence, will be removed and their contingent will be disqualified from award contention.
13. Please discourage your participants from consuming any alcohol or drugs prior to or during the parade.
14. Indemnify & Hold Harmless: The RESPONSIBLE PERSON and Float/Group PARTICIPANTS are required to abide by the rules and regulations as established by Cape Town Pride. Each RESPONSIBLE PERSON and Float/Group PARTICIPANT is responsible for any and all acts and/or omissions on their part, or on the part of their agents, members, volunteers, and/or employees, which may result in injury or damage to them or a third party. The RESPONSIBLE PERSON and Float/Group PARTICIPANTS shall indemnify and hold Cape Town Pride and the City of Cape Town, free and harmless, and hereby forever release and discharge Cape Town Pride and the City of Cape Town and their affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against all costs, claims, demands, damages, expenses and liabilities, including solicitors fees and costs arising out of any such act or omission of such responsible person or Float/Group participant. Such indemnity shall be signed by each responsible person, and attach hereto.
15. I/We accept and recognise that we will form an integral part of the parade procession and will walk/drive at the appropriate speed, as determined by the chief marshal.
16. I/We agree that unless my entry fee is paid in advance I will not be allowed to participate in the parade.
17. I/We agree that should I/we cancel our entry, our entry fee will not be reimbursed.
18. I/We understand that no open flames of any kind, candles or pyrotechnics are permitted in the parade.
19. I/We understand that no live animals are allowed to be included in the parade.
20. I/We agree to exercise extreme caution when throwing any items from a vehicle, at passers-by or into the crowd and to be fully aware of all safety considerations.
21. I/We understand that of distribution of any products, product samples or promotional items by parade entrants without written consent from Cape Town Pride, and produced on request before, during or after the parade, will be permitted.
22. I/We accept that all promotional materials that is erected for or on behalf of sponsors without the approval of Cape Town Pride will be removed.
